95 Years of Amusement celebrating Playland and the Aurora Speedway
The Shoreline Historical Museum and Golden Wheels Auto Racing Pathfinders invite the community to celebrate the 95th Anniversary of Playland and Aurora Speedway on July 19, 2025. From 11 AM to 3 PM, attendees can enjoy games, prizes, and concessions reminiscent of the iconic amusement park. Vintage race car drivers will showcase vehicles from the former Aurora Speedway, which opened in 1931. Playland, operational from 1930 to 1990, was a beloved destination featuring thrilling rides, from the Big Dipper roller coaster to the Laff Factory. The Aurora Speedway transitioned from dog racing to car racing, hosting various events until 1958.
This anniversary event aims to evoke memories of the region's rich heritage and community spirit. Visitors can purchase tickets for concessions and raffles both online and on-site. The celebration will take place at 18501 Linden Ave N in Shoreline, with parking available across the street.
