Aurora Village Transit Center scrubbed from top of light poles to bus bay platforms

Shoreline, WALocal News

Aurora Village Transit Center has implemented several enhancements, including thorough cleaning and round-the-clock security, to create a safer environment for public transit riders. A portable restroom, in place for 18 months, is cleaned twice daily and has become a vital amenity for many commuters. The north link light rail stations now feature restrooms and drinking fountains, showcasing Metro and Sound Transit’s commitment to improving rider experience. Increased attention to cleanliness by Metro’s North Facilities Maintenance has been well received by the public. The transit center serves as a crucial connection point, linking riders to Shoreline and Edmonds Colleges, Shorewood High School, and other local destinations.

Frequent express buses facilitate travel to downtown Seattle and Everett. Evidence suggests that providing restrooms at busy stations leads to a healthier and more comfortable transit experience. These efforts reflect a broader trend towards treating transit users with respect and dignity.
