President Trump's budget bill, currently being debated in the Senate, threatens to add trillions to the federal deficit and primarily benefit the wealthy through tax breaks, while cutting essential social safety net programs. The Congressional Budget Office has projected that the measure could increase the national debt by hundreds of billions. Public opposition is strong, with recent polls indicating that a significant majority of Americans reject the proposed budget. At a recent protest in Shoreline, participants carried signs addressing concerns about democracy, public health, and environmental issues, receiving support from passing motorists. Everyday Activists, based in Shoreline, have organized additional protests every Sunday in July, culminating in a special "Good Trouble" rally on July 17, honoring the legacy of civil rights activist John Lewis.

This rally is part of a Nationwide Day of Action, marking the fifth anniversary of Lewis's death. Activism in Shoreline reflects a broader movement against policies perceived as detrimental to low-income families and marginalized communities. The ongoing discourse signals a critical moment for civic engagement and public policy in the region.
