Union Gospel Mission opens new facility for women and children in need
Angela's House, a new facility by the Union Gospel Mission in Washington County, opened with the help of over 100 volunteers. This "Life Change Center" is designed to support addiction recovery and transitional housing for up to 80 women and children. Executive Director Matt Stein detailed the center's mission, stating it provides a peaceful environment for residents to consider their next steps. The facility features a chapel, a learning resource center, a children's activity center, and on-site counseling, including trauma-informed services. Stays at Angela's House can range from a few months to a year, offering crucial support for those in need.
The project began in 2017-2018 and broke ground in summer 2022, reflecting significant community investment. The Union Gospel Mission aims to assist over 2,000 women and children over the next decade. The grand opening is planned for September 13, with current residents transitioning from a nearby facility.
