Portland, ORLocal News

On August 11, the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of animal neglect in Redmond, Oregon, and rescued 23 dogs from extreme conditions. The deputies found the dogs in metal wire crates covered with blankets during a heatwave, with temperatures soaring to 100 degrees. Upon removal, the dogs displayed symptoms of heat exhaustion and were treated in air-conditioned police vehicles. Brightside Animal Center staff provided fresh water and cooling compresses to aid their recovery. The owners, Nicole Allison Sly and Jeremy Shane De France, have long criminal records and now face 23 counts of animal neglect.

Court records indicate their histories date back to 2001 and 2005, respectively. Thankfully, all the dogs, including 19 puppies, are recovering and eligible for adoption. Interested adopters can contact the animal shelter for more information.
