Weekly Street Services report August 4-10, 2025

Portland, ORLocal News

The Street Services Coordination Center (SSCC) in Portland reported extensive activity from August 4-10, 2025, receiving 2,516 new campsite reports and removing 153 campsites that posed health and safety risks. During this period, the SSCC offered shelter referrals to 32 individuals, with 16 accepting the offer and 9 utilizing a bed for at least one night. The center operates in collaboration with multiple agencies, including the Impact Reduction Program and local law enforcement, to provide compassionate support to those experiencing homelessness. As of July 1, 2025, Portland will cease managing camps located on Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) properties, directing community members to report these camps directly to ODOT. This shift may lead to longer response times for camps along highways and freeways.

The SSCC has assisted thousands since April 2022, with a total of 7,761 shelter referrals made. The center's approach emphasizes empathy and innovation while partnering with programs to enhance long-term housing access. The ongoing efforts highlight the city's commitment to addressing homelessness effectively.
