Yamhill man arrested for animal neglect 7 dogs seized, 2 puppies found dead

Portland, ORLocal News

A Yamhill County man, Jose Martinez Rodriguez, was arrested after the sheriff's office seized seven dogs and found two dead puppies living in deplorable conditions. On August 9, deputies executed a search warrant at a property on NW Bear Road, uncovering severe animal neglect. The dogs were found confined in cramped kennels, with floors covered in 8 to 12 inches of compacted feces, hair, and urine. The investigation began when deputies responded to a trespassing complaint and witnessed the dreadful conditions firsthand. Rodriguez faces multiple charges, including four counts of felony animal neglect and eleven counts of misdemeanor animal neglect.

The surviving dogs are being cared for at a local kennel, with the sheriff's office thanking local partners for their assistance. This case underscores ongoing issues of animal welfare in the region. The situation has prompted further review by the Yamhill County District Attorney’s office, highlighting the legal ramifications of such neglect.
