All you need to know about Portland International Airport
Portland International Airport (PDX) is undergoing a major $2 billion renovation aimed at enhancing passenger experience and expanding its facilities. The first phase, completed in August 2024, introduced modern check-in counters, streamlined security processes, and a variety of local dining options, including 14 new restaurants. The second phase, expected to conclude in December 2025, will add further amenities such as more exits, escalators, and additional retail spaces, bringing the total to 24 new shops. Travelers are advised to allocate extra time for their journeys due to ongoing construction, which may lead to detours and changes in restroom locations. PDX currently operates 70 nonstop flights, comprising 59 domestic and 11 international routes to six countries.
Airport officials suggest arriving two hours early for domestic flights and three hours for international ones, especially during busy hours. Various transportation options are available, including taxis, shuttles, and public transit. As a reminder, travelers will need a REAL ID or another acceptable form of identification starting May 7, 2025.
