K-9 Steele steals the show with recent captures, exceptional tracking skills

Marysville, WALocal News

K-9 Steele, a member of the Marysville Police Department, demonstrated his tracking prowess during two significant incidents in November. On November 4, he helped apprehend three suspects who assaulted an employee during a shoplifting attempt at JC Penney. The suspects fled but were located swiftly with Steele's assistance in a nearby yard after a car crash. On November 16, Steele was called in by Arlington Police to assist in tracking a suspect who fled a domestic violence situation. The suspect abandoned their vehicle and ran into a densely wooded area, where Steele pursued him for nearly an hour.

His efforts culminated in the successful capture of the suspect. Officer Brad Smith, Steele's handler, received praise for their collaboration, underscoring the vital role of police dogs in law enforcement. These incidents reflect the growing recognition of K-9 units in enhancing community safety and crime prevention.
