Marysville Police Department warning Kia and Hyundai drivers after arresting five teens

Marysville, WALocal News

In a recent crackdown, Marysville Police arrested five juveniles, aged 12 to 15, for their involvement in a series of thefts targeting Kia and Hyundai vehicles. The incident unfolded when a victim attempted to photograph the suspects shoplifting at Fred Meyer, leading to an assault and the theft of a black Kia. Officers in the area quickly located the stolen vehicle, but the 14-year-old driver crashed while attempting to evade capture. The driver faces multiple charges, including Assault and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. One 15-year-old suspect was arrested for outstanding warrants related to stolen vehicle possession, while three female suspects, aged 12 and 13, were returned to their guardians.

In response to the rising theft incidents, the Marysville Police Department encourages Kia and Hyundai owners to enhance their vehicle security. Recommendations include using steering wheel locks and vehicle immobilization systems to prevent theft.
