Marysville, WALocal News

The City of Marysville has moved forward with the Riverwalk project, granting approval for a Shoreline Substantial Development Permit and Floodplain Management Permit. This development will clear and fill the Public Works Operations site, located at 60 State Avenue and 80 Columbia Avenue, to pave the way for a future mixed-use development. Alongside the construction efforts, the project includes vital environmental restoration work aimed at enhancing the Ebey Slough Shoreline, which will involve the partial filling of a Category III wetland. The city has determined that the project will not have significant adverse environmental impacts, negating the need for an Environmental Impact Statement. Community involvement is encouraged through a 14-day public comment period, which ends on May 8, 2024, allowing residents to voice their opinions.

After this period, the permit will be sent for a 21-day review by the Washington State Department of Ecology. Appeals to the decision can be filed until the same deadline, and any appeal must include a filing fee of $2,500. The city is committed to ensuring that development aligns with environmental standards and community needs.
