Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Marysville Community Resources and Events

Marysville, WALocal News

October is designated as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the City of Marysville has initiated a campaign to raise awareness and support victims of domestic violence. The Marysville Police Department handles approximately 85 domestic violence calls each month, emphasizing the urgency and significance of addressing this issue. Collaborating with local organizations like Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County, Marysville aims to educate the community and inform victims about available resources. The highlight of this campaign will be the Domestic Violence Resource Fair on October 16, 2024, at Comeford Park, where various local non-profits will provide vital information and assistance. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple to symbolize support for domestic violence awareness and can enjoy activities, food trucks, and a prize drawing.

Furthermore, individuals in unsafe situations can access help through the 24-hour support line provided by DVS. The campaign emphasizes that abuse manifests in many forms, including physical, emotional, and financial, and encourages community members to speak out and seek help. Resources and donation opportunities are also available online to support victims in need.
