MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program
The Marysville Police Department implemented an Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program to address animal abuse in the community. Since its inception in September, the program has enrolled nearly 70 agencies and trained over 460 officers. Officer Dave Vasconi stressed the importance of rescuing animals from abusive circumstances and ensuring they receive medical care and new homes. The collaboration with Pasado's Safe Haven has enhanced the program's effectiveness, leading to increased accountability for abusers. Each year, the Community Service Officer responds to numerous animal cruelty complaints, often resulting in arrests and rescues.
The training program aims to equip officers with the necessary skills to handle these sensitive cases. Community members are urged to report suspected animal cruelty by calling 911. This initiative reflects a growing commitment to animal welfare in Marysville.
