MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program

Marysville, WALocal News

The Marysville Police Department's Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program aims to address and prevent animal abuse within the community. Launched in September, the initiative has trained over 460 officers from 70 different agencies. Officer Dave Vasconi articulated the program's mission: rescuing animals from harmful situations and facilitating their recovery and adoption after legal proceedings. Developed in partnership with Pasado's Safe Haven, the curriculum focuses on equipping officers with the necessary skills to investigate and enforce animal cruelty laws effectively. The program's early success indicates a positive trend in both animal rescues and accountability for offenders.

Vasconi, who has a long-standing passion for animal welfare, expresses appreciation for the collaboration that made the training possible. Residents are urged to report any instances of animal cruelty by calling 911, emphasizing community involvement in safeguarding animal rights. This initiative reflects a growing commitment to animal welfare and legal enforcement in Marysville.
