MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program

Marysville, WALocal News

In response to rising concerns over animal cruelty, the Marysville Police Department has implemented an Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program, enrolling nearly 70 agencies since September. The program has successfully trained over 460 officers, equipping them to handle cases of animal abuse more effectively. MPD Community Service Officer Dave Vasconi expressed his commitment to rescuing animals and providing necessary medical care. The initiative, developed in collaboration with Pasado's Safe Haven, aims to hold offenders accountable while ensuring the welfare of abused animals. The Community Service Unit, comprising a specialized officer, addresses numerous animal cruelty complaints annually.

Officer Vasconi’s efforts have led to arrests and the rescue of abused animals. Residents are urged to report any suspected animal cruelty by calling 911. This program marks a significant step toward enhancing animal welfare in the community.
