MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program

Marysville, WALocal News

The Marysville Police Department's Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program has trained over 460 officers from nearly 70 agencies since its inception in September. The initiative, spearheaded by Community Service Officer Dave Vasconi and Pasado’s Safe Haven's Cruelty Investigations Director, aims to rescue animals from abusive situations and ensure their well-being. Vasconi stated, "Our number one goal is to remove the animal from that terrible circumstance and provide it with the medical care that it needs. " The program has shown impressive results, leading to increased animal rescues and accountability for offenders. The Marysville Community Service Unit, with its dedicated reserve officer, responds to numerous animal cruelty complaints each year.

Officer Vasconi’s commitment stems from a passion for advocating for animals who cannot speak for themselves. The collaboration with Pasado’s Safe Haven highlights the community's dedication to tackling animal cruelty effectively. Residents are encouraged to report any suspected cases of animal abuse immediately by calling 911.
