MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program

Marysville, WALocal News

The Marysville Police Department has implemented an Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program that has trained over 460 officers from nearly 70 agencies since September. Officer Dave Vasconi highlights the program’s goal of rescuing abused animals and ensuring they receive necessary medical care. Developed alongside Pasado’s Safe Haven, the training curriculum aims to hold offenders accountable for animal cruelty. Vasconi, motivated by a lifelong passion for animal welfare, responds to numerous cruelty complaints each year, often leading to successful rescues. The program has yielded significant results, increasing the number of animals saved and arrests made.

This initiative not only enhances local enforcement of animal protection laws but also reflects a broader commitment to community welfare. Residents are urged to report any suspected animal cruelty by calling 911. The collaboration between the police and animal welfare organizations marks a significant step in addressing and preventing animal abuse.
