MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program

Marysville, WALocal News

The Marysville Police Department's new Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program aims to combat animal abuse effectively. Since its September launch, nearly 70 agencies have enrolled, with over 460 officers trained to handle cruelty cases. Officer Dave Vasconi expressed his commitment to rescuing animals from abusive situations and ensuring they receive the necessary medical care. The training curriculum, developed in partnership with Pasado's Safe Haven, has led to increased accountability for offenders. Feedback from participating officers indicates a strong appreciation for the training's impact on their ability to respond to animal cruelty complaints.

The Community Service Unit, which includes Officer Vasconi, responds to numerous complaints annually, often resulting in arrests and rescues. Local residents are urged to report any instances of animal cruelty by contacting 911. This initiative represents a significant step in improving animal welfare in Marysville.
