The Marysville Police Department's new Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program aims to enhance the investigation and enforcement of animal cruelty laws. Launched in September 2021, the program has seen nearly 70 agencies enroll, resulting in over 460 officers receiving training. Officer Dave Vasconi highlighted the importance of being a voice for animals, stating that they rely on humans for their welfare. The initiative has successfully led to more rescued animals and increased accountability for offenders. Pasado's Safe Haven's Director of Investigations commended the training's effectiveness, noting positive feedback from participants.

The Community Service Unit includes one officer dedicated to animal cruelty cases and assists the patrol division with various calls.
