MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program

Marysville, WALocal News

The Marysville Police Department has implemented an Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program to address animal abuse in the community. Officer Dave Vasconi highlights the goal of removing animals from distressing situations and providing essential medical care. The training, created with Pasado’s Safe Haven and the Criminal Justice Training Commission, has gained traction, with nearly 70 agencies and over 460 officers trained since September. “I am eager each time someone tells me they took [the Animal Cruelty Investigation Training] and loved it,” stated the Director of Investigations at Pasado's Safe Haven. Officer Vasconi's passion for animal welfare drives the initiative, reflecting a broader commitment to protecting vulnerable animals.

The program not only facilitates the rescue of abused animals but also holds offenders accountable for their actions. Marysville residents are urged to report any suspected animal cruelty by calling 911 immediately. This proactive approach underscores the importance of community involvement in preventing animal suffering.
