MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program
The Marysville Police Department's Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program aims to combat animal cruelty and has gained traction since its launch in September. With nearly 70 agencies participating and over 460 officers trained, the initiative focuses on rescuing animals from abusive circumstances. Community Service Officer Dave Vasconi highlighted the importance of providing medical care and finding new homes for rescued animals. The program was developed in collaboration with Pasado’s Safe Haven, which has seen an uptick in accountability for offenders. The Director of Investigations at Pasado's Safe Haven expressed gratitude for the efforts of those involved in the training.
The Community Service Unit, led by Officer Vasconi, responds to numerous animal cruelty complaints each year, often resulting in arrests and rescues. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspected animal cruelty by calling 911 immediately. This initiative reflects a growing commitment to animal welfare in the Marysville community.
