MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program

Marysville, WALocal News

The Marysville Police Department is combating animal cruelty through a newly implemented Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program, which has trained over 460 officers from nearly 70 agencies since its inception in September. Officer Dave Vasconi highlighted that the program's primary goal is to rescue animals from abusive situations and ensure they receive the medical attention they need. The initiative has demonstrated significant impact, leading to more animals being saved and offenders being held accountable. The Director of Investigations and Rescue Operations at Pasado's Safe Haven commended the training's effectiveness and acknowledged the hard work of the contributors. The Community Service Unit, which includes Vasconi, focuses on enforcing state laws regarding animal crimes and responds to numerous cruelty complaints annually.

With a passion for animal welfare, Vasconi emphasizes the responsibility humans have to care for those who cannot speak for themselves. Residents are encouraged to report any suspected animal cruelty incidents by calling 911 immediately. This proactive approach aims to create a safer environment for animals in Marysville.
