MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program
The Marysville Police Department launched an Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program, successfully training over 460 officers from nearly 70 agencies to address animal cruelty. Officer Dave Vasconi emphasizes the program's mission to rescue animals from abusive situations and provide them with necessary medical care and new homes. This initiative, developed in collaboration with Pasado’s Safe Haven, aims to improve accountability for those who harm animals. Since its inception in September, the program has shown promising results, increasing both the number of animals saved and prosecutions of offenders. Vasconi's passion for animal welfare drives his commitment to this cause, as he believes animals rely on humans for their basic needs.
The Community Service Unit, which Vasconi is part of, focuses on investigating and enforcing state laws against animal cruelty. Residents are urged to report any suspected cases of animal cruelty by calling 911. The training program reflects a significant step toward protecting vulnerable animals in the community.
