MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program

Marysville, WALocal News

The Marysville Police Department's Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program has trained over 460 officers across nearly 70 agencies since its launch in September, aimed at addressing animal abuse in the community. Community Service Officer Dave Vasconi highlighted that the program focuses on rescuing animals from abusive situations and ensuring they receive essential medical care. His passion for supporting animals drives the initiative, as he emphasizes their reliance on humans for care and compassion. The collaboration with Pasado’s Safe Haven has resulted in significant improvements, leading to more rescued animals and accountability for offenders. The program's success reflects a growing commitment to animal welfare in the region.

Vasconi's role also includes responding to various animal cruelty complaints, often resulting in arrests and rescues. The police department encourages the community to report any suspected cruelty incidents by calling 911. This proactive approach aims to foster a safer environment for animals in Marysville.
