MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program

Marysville, WALocal News

The Marysville Police Department has initiated an Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program to combat animal cruelty, training over 460 officers from nearly 70 agencies since its September launch. Community Service Officer Dave Vasconi expressed the department's commitment to rescuing animals from abusive situations and providing them with essential medical care and new homes. The training program, developed in collaboration with Pasado’s Safe Haven, has seen significant engagement and positive feedback from law enforcement personnel. Vasconi emphasized the responsibility of society to advocate for animals that cannot speak for themselves. The program's success has led to more animals being rescued and offenders being held accountable for their actions.

The Marysville Community Service Unit specializes in investigating crimes against animals, responding to numerous complaints annually. Residents who suspect animal cruelty are urged to report it immediately by calling 911. The initiative reflects a broader commitment to animal welfare and community safety.
