MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program

Marysville, WALocal News

The Marysville Police Department has implemented an Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program that has quickly gained traction, now involving nearly 70 agencies and over 460 trained officers. Officer Dave Vasconi stated that the program's primary goal is to rescue animals from abusive situations and provide them with essential medical care. Since its launch in September, the initiative has significantly increased the number of animals saved and offenders held accountable. This training curriculum was developed in partnership with Pasado's Safe Haven and the Criminal Justice Training Commission to enhance the investigation of animal cruelty cases. Vasconi, who has a deep commitment to animal welfare, underscored the need for advocates who can speak for vulnerable animals.

The program reflects a growing recognition of the importance of addressing animal cruelty within the community. Residents are urged to report any suspected animal cruelty by calling 911. By fostering awareness and training, the MPD aims to create a safer environment for animals in Marysville.
