MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program

Marysville, WALocal News

The Marysville Police Department's Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program aims to address and reduce incidents of animal abuse in the region. Launched in September, the initiative has attracted nearly 70 agencies and trained over 460 officers to enhance their response to animal cruelty cases. Community Service Officer Dave Vasconi, who has a strong commitment to animal welfare, highlighted the importance of rescuing animals from abusive situations and providing them with medical care. The program, developed in partnership with Pasado’s Safe Haven, has shown promising results, leading to more rescued animals and greater accountability for offenders. Vasconi expressed gratitude for the contributions of his colleagues in making this project successful.

The Marysville Community Service Unit is dedicated to enforcing laws against animal cruelty and responding to numerous complaints each year. Local residents are reminded to report suspected animal cruelty immediately by calling 911. Such efforts not only protect animals but also foster a community that values compassion and responsibility towards all living beings.
