Historic Marysville home finds new life on Hat Island

Marysville, WALocal News

A historic Marysville home, once linked to former Mayor Arthur Duborko, has been restored and relocated to Hat Island. Built around 1900 and measuring 840 square feet, the house was moved to preserve its history after the city purchased the original property in 2018 to develop the Civic Campus. Bill and Diane Liles now enjoy the home as a vacation retreat, feeling honored to maintain a piece of Marysville's legacy. The relocation was managed by Nickel Bros, who highlighted the importance of environmental sustainability in preserving historic structures. Duborko, who served as mayor from 1968 to 1972, had deep roots in the community, with a life filled with various occupations and community involvement.

His family's ownership of the house from 1983 to 2018 connects it to local history. Hat Island, known for its serene setting and limited services, offers a unique backdrop for the restored home. Liles encourages others considering similar projects to remain actively engaged in the renovation process.
