Boys Girls Clubs celebration in Marysville Sept. 15

Marysville, WALocal News

Marysville will host a celebration for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County on September 15 at 12 p. m. , marking the end of a 15-year lease agreement for the local branch building. The event will honor the late Dennis Kendall, former mayor, known for his commitment to establishing a safe drop-in youth recreation center downtown. Funded through a combination of state support and local donations, the building's purchase highlights community collaboration.

Originally opened in 1961, the facility has served various educational and recreational purposes, including as a YMCA. It was built by the Marysville Police Reserves, responding to the community's need for a gathering space. The celebration will feature a ceremony to officially hand over the keys and a community open house. Notable donors include the Marysville Rotary and the Tulalip Cares Charitable Fund. This event underscores the city’s ongoing dedication to youth services and community engagement.
