MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program

Marysville, WALocal News

The Marysville Police Department has introduced an Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program to combat animal abuse effectively. Spearheaded by Officer Dave Vasconi and Pasado’s Safe Haven, the initiative aims to rescue animals from abusive situations and provide them with essential medical care. Since its inception in September, the program has successfully trained over 460 officers from nearly 70 agencies, leading to a significant increase in accountability for animal cruelty cases. Vasconi highlighted his dedication to animal welfare, emphasizing that animals depend on humans for their basic needs and deserve compassion. The training curriculum was developed in partnership with the Criminal Justice Training Commission and has garnered positive feedback from participants.

The Community Service Unit, which includes Vasconi, specifically focuses on enforcing laws against animal cruelty. Residents are urged to report any suspected cases of animal cruelty by calling 911 immediately. This proactive approach reflects a growing commitment to protecting vulnerable animals within the community.
