Project underway to reopen Mother Natures Window to public
The City of Marysville has commenced construction to reopen Mother Nature’s Window, a 34-acre park that has been inaccessible to the public since its acquisition by Snohomish County in 1999. The park features a second growth forest and will undergo several improvements, including a new parking lot, sidewalks, and upgraded trails, aimed at fostering recreational and environmental education opportunities. The $1. 47 million project is partially funded by a $750,000 federal HUD grant, illustrating a significant investment in local infrastructure. Matia Contractors, Inc.
is scheduled to complete the work by December 2025, with public access expected to resume in spring 2026. Future phases of improvement are planned, although funding for these enhancements has not yet been secured. This project underscores the city's dedication to maintaining natural spaces while enhancing community engagement. The reopening of the park is anticipated to provide residents with increased access to outdoor activities and educational programs. Local officials emphasize the importance of preserving the park’s natural setting while improving monitoring and maintenance capabilities.
