Driver of car involved in fatal accident at Edmonds ferry dock facing murder, vehicular assault charges

Lynnwood, WALocal News

William Russell-Leonard, 29, faces serious charges including second-degree murder and vehicular homicide in connection with a deadly crash at the Edmonds ferry dock. The incident, which took place shortly after midnight on June 17, resulted in the deaths of two women aged 45 and 48, while Russell-Leonard and two other occupants were hospitalized. Reports indicate that Russell-Leonard had assaulted his girlfriend and stolen the Mini Cooper just days before the crash. He was observed speeding and evading police prior to the accident, allegedly under the influence of heroin and meth. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed through ferry terminal gates and sank in Puget Sound.

Authorities recovered Russell-Leonard and one other survivor from the water, while two others were pronounced dead at the scene. He remains in custody with a bond set at $2 million as formal charges are being processed by the Snohomish County Prosecutor. This tragic incident raises concerns about substance abuse and public safety on local roadways.
