On September 11, 2024, a poignant remembrance ceremony took place at the Edmonds Fallen Firefighter Memorial Park, where over 60 community members, firefighters, police, and first responders gathered to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks. Retired firefighter Dave “Bronco” Erickson, who acted as the master of ceremonies, recounted the tragic events of September 11, 2001, when hijackers took control of four commercial flights, leading to catastrophic crashes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. He detailed the heroism displayed by first responders who rushed into the chaos to save lives, noting the profound loss of nearly 3,000 individuals that day. The ceremony included a flag ceremony performed by an honor guard and moments of silence to reflect on the sacrifices made by first responders. Erickson also highlighted the months of recovery efforts made by firefighters and volunteers in the aftermath of the attacks.

The gathering served as a powerful reminder of the bravery and dedication of those who serve in public safety. As the community reflects on the events of 9/11, the importance of remembering and honoring the fallen remains ever-present. This annual memorial event reinforces the bond between the community and its first responders.
