Two dead, four injured after car involved in vehicle pursuit drives off Edmonds ferry dock

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Late Tuesday night, a high-speed police pursuit resulted in a tragic incident at the Edmonds-Kingston ferry dock, where a Mini Cooper crashed, leading to two fatalities and four injuries. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office began pursuing the vehicle after it was seen driving recklessly at speeds of over 100 mph on Interstate 5. Following the pursuit, the Mini Cooper crashed through the ferry terminal's barrier and landed on its roof in Puget Sound. Emergency responders rescued three occupants, while the sheriff’s dive team recovered two deceased passengers. The state patrol’s investigation revealed that drugs or alcohol may have played a role in the crash.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been released, while the rescued individuals include a 29-year-old driver and three passengers aged 30, 38, and 48. Washington State Ferries temporarily suspended operations due to the incident but resumed service early Wednesday morning. This event underscores ongoing concerns regarding reckless driving and its potential consequences in the region.
