Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Lynnwood Rotary Club’s eighth annual Challenge Series Derby Car Race brought together kids of all abilities for a day of fun and inclusion. The event paired children with disabilities with trained co-drivers, allowing them to race in specially designed two-person derby cars. Co-host Leo Finnegan, inspired by his son with developmental disabilities, played a key role in organizing the event. Local partners, including the Edmonds School District and Lynnwood Police Guild, sponsored the race, while volunteers ensured a safe experience for all. Each child received medals and t-shirts for participating, and lunch was provided by Chick-Fil-A.

The day featured a special appearance by Drop, the mascot for Mr. Kleen Car Wash, and a DJ kept the energy high. The inclusive nature of the event highlighted the importance of community support in fostering connections among children. This annual race underscores the commitment to creating opportunities for children with disabilities to engage in fun activities.
