Volunteers needed for South Lynnwood Park Stewardship event June 21

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Lynnwood's parks department calls for volunteers for its South Lynnwood Park stewardship event on June 21, from 9 a. m. to noon. Participants will engage in activities like removing invasive plants and cleaning up the park, with all tools and gloves provided. Volunteers are advised to wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate clothing for thorny plants, and should prepare for changing weather conditions.

This event is part of a broader initiative to improve urban forests, funded by a $1. 3 million grant from the USDA Forest Service. The program aims to protect 12 acres of urban forest and wetlands while planting at least 750 new trees by 2029. Monthly stewardship events occur on the third Thursday of each month, fostering community involvement. An Urban Forester will oversee the event, providing guidance to volunteers.
