Lynnwood Council seeks public opinion on three crucial city plans at June 9 meeting

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Lynnwood City Council will hold public hearings on June 9 to discuss the Unified Development Code (UDC), the City Center + Alderwood Subarea Plan, and amendments to the Comprehensive Plan. The UDC aims to consolidate the city's development and permitting regulations, with a council vote on its adoption scheduled before June 30. Residents can review the proposed code and provide feedback, marking a critical moment for community involvement. The City Center plan, also on the agenda, envisions a walkable downtown area, addressing a long-standing desire among residents for such a space. Proposed amendments to the Comprehensive Plan include updates related to annexations and the Capital Facilities Plan.

The council will also consider funding for a law enforcement diversion program that helps deter substance use among offenders. This program's state grant funding is set to end on June 15, prompting the city to allocate $271,330 from its opioid settlement fund to sustain it through January 2026. The meeting will take place at 6 p. m. at Lynnwood City Hall and will be live-streamed for broader community engagement.
