Runners get their plaid on during NW Kilted Run at Ballinger Park

The First Annual Northwest Kilted Run occurred Saturday at Ballinger Park, featuring 40 participants dressed in a mix of tartan kilts and casual jogging attire. Organizer Tamarah emphasized inclusivity, stating that creative outfits like plaid pants and kilted tutus were accepted. The event raised funds for the Northwest Junior Pipe Band, highlighting the community's support for local arts. A standout attraction was the “Welly Toss,” where competitors threw yellow rubber boots, with distances ranging from 30 to over 70 feet. Event sponsors included Datdental, Celtic Arts Foundation, and Cascadia Band, showcasing local business involvement.

Participants enjoyed a picturesque day with pleasant weather, enhancing the festive mood. As the Scottish saying goes, attendees were “full of the joys,” reflecting the event's success. This run not only promoted physical activity but also celebrated Scottish culture and community spirit.
