History of Snohomish Pioneer Cemetery topic of June 4 Sno-Isle Genealogical Society meeting

Lynnwood, WALocal News

On June 4, the Sno-Isle Genealogical Society will welcome historian Taylor Russell to discuss the Snohomish Pioneer Cemetery's rich history. Founded in 1876, the cemetery was deemed "lost and forgotten" by a judge in 1998, with more than 300 pioneers interred there, many without headstones. The cemetery has suffered the loss of over 60 headstones and inconsistent burial records throughout its history. Russell's research utilizes archives and digital tools to create a more accurate burial list, highlighting the intriguing stories of the early settlers of Snohomish County. The meeting will commence at 6:30 p.

m. at the Wickers Building located in Heritage Park, Lynnwood, and will also be streamed live on Zoom for remote participants. Russell is known for her passion for presenting history in engaging ways, which she showcases through her books and walking tours. Additional details and virtual connection information can be found on the Sno-Isle Genealogy calendar. This event provides a unique opportunity to connect with local history and its preservation efforts.
