Student athletes, coaches honored during Edmonds School Districts Scholar-Athlete banquet

The Edmonds School District celebrated its top scholar-athletes and coaches at a banquet on May 28 at Edmonds-Woodway High School, recognizing 16 students for their achievements. Vince DeMiero, the Director of Ceremonies, emphasized the community's role in supporting student-athletes. Each honoree received a $1,000 scholarship funded by local organizations, including the Richard Gourley and Terri McMahan Scholarships. Coaches were also acknowledged for their contributions, receiving awards and professional development stipends. Notable recipients included John Patterson, a four-year letter winner in cross country and track, and Isabella Fallarme, a two-sport athlete excelling in soccer and track.

Patterson, who plans to attend Umpqua Community College, has a GPA of 3. 23, while Fallarme, with a GPA of 3. 97, will attend Seattle Pacific University for nursing. The event highlighted the district’s commitment to fostering excellence in both academics and athletics, showcasing the dedication of students and the support of the community. This annual recognition reflects the importance of balancing sports and education.
