Prep track and field day one Pair of Edmonds SD athletes come away with medals while others qualify for finals

The 2025 WIAA State Track and Field Championships commenced on May 29, with Edmonds School District athletes shining on the first day. Mountlake Terrace's Allison Mervin earned a fourth-place finish in the 3A girls long jump, leaping 18-05. 25, after placing fifth the previous year. Nicholas Manz of Edmonds-Woodway secured his first state medal with a sixth-place finish in the 3A boys discus throw, improving on his ninth-place finish from last year. Brynlee Dubiel advanced to the finals in the 3A girls 100-meter hurdles, finishing third in the preliminaries.

Additionally, the Meadowdale boys 4×400-meter relay team qualified for the finals with a seventh-place finish in the preliminaries. Other athletes, including the Edmonds-Woodway girls 4×400-meter relay team, did not qualify for finals. The event, which features multiple high school athletes, will conclude on Saturday at Mount Tahoma High School. The championships highlight the talents of local athletes in track and field.
