Warrior boys soccer, softball teams prepare for state play this week

Edmonds-Woodway's boys soccer team enters the 2025 WIAA 3A State Boys Soccer Tournament as the eleventh seed, looking to extend their fifth consecutive state appearance. They will compete against No. 6 seed Monroe on May 23 in a loser-out match at Mercer Island High School. Seniors Danny Loveless and Ben Browne express the significance of their leadership roles and their excitement to face the best teams in the state. After a challenging start to the season, the Warriors rallied with a 5-1 record in their last six matches, showcasing improved teamwork and defense.

Loveless emphasizes the team's growth, stating, "Our defense as a whole, this season has been really good for growth. " Browne highlights the skill of the forwards, who average 2. 3 goals per match. The Warriors aim to surpass last year's fourth-place finish, setting their sights on winning the state championship. The match against Monroe will be pivotal for their tournament aspirations.
