Lynnwood unveils three public EV charging stations at City Hall
Lynnwood City Hall unveiled three public electric vehicle charging stations on Monday, supported by almost $800,000 in federal and state grants. Mayor Christine Frizzell highlighted the benefits for residents, who can charge their vehicles while participating in community activities. Each of the six charging ports can deliver an 80% charge in under two hours, with a current rate of $0. 34 per kWh. The total project cost was approximately $1 million, funded through various grants, including $76,450 from the U.
S. Department of Energy and $614,856 from the Washington Electric Vehicle Charging Program. Public Works Director Jared Bond commended the collaborative effort that made the project possible. Planning began in early 2023, with funding secured in January 2024 and construction starting in October. The city currently operates 12 electric vehicles, significantly lowering monthly fuel costs.
Although there are no immediate plans for additional public charging stations, city staff aims to enhance charging options for municipal vehicles.
