Thirty-eight volunteers from the Snohomish County Office of the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program were honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Award at an event in April 2024. Joelle Kelly, Division Manager, commended their commitment to advocating for children navigating the dependency court system. Gold award recipients Jeanne Thomas, Linda Goodwin, and Ginny Rathburn exemplify the dedication of CASA volunteers, with Thomas also earning the title of Volunteer of the Year. The President's Volunteer Service Award, established in 2003, recognizes individuals based on the number of service hours completed each year. In total, Snohomish County CASA volunteers contributed thousands of hours to support vulnerable children.

Each awardee received a medal, pin, and a personalized letter from former President Joe Biden. The program continues to seek diverse volunteers to make a difference in children's lives. Information sessions about becoming a CASA volunteer are available online.
