Volunteers needed May 17 for South Lynnwood Park Stewardship event

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Lynnwood's parks department calls for volunteers to participate in the South Lynnwood Park stewardship event on May 17, running from 9 a. m. to noon. Volunteers will engage in activities such as removing invasive plants and assisting with restoration efforts. Participants are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and suitable clothing for thorny plants, as the event will proceed rain or shine, barring unsafe conditions.

This stewardship initiative is part of a broader effort to protect urban forests, funded by a $1. 3 million grant from the USDA Forest Service. Over five years, the project aims to enhance 12 acres of urban habitat and plant at least 750 new trees by 2029. A short orientation will precede the event, with an Urban Forester present to guide volunteers. Those interested can register on the city’s website.

The initiative reflects a growing commitment to environmental conservation in the South Lynnwood Neighborhood.
