School board to vote on performance-based pathway for high school graduation, May 13

The State Board of Education has approved a new performance-based pathway for high school graduation, allowing districts to adopt necessary policies for its implementation. This initiative aims to support students in fulfilling graduation requirements effectively. Other agenda items for the upcoming meeting include the approval of emergency waiver requests stemming from power outages caused by storms this year. The board will also conduct the first reading of a revised child abuse and neglect policy, which modifies language regarding corporal punishment. A presentation by students involved in Project SEARCH, a program aiding students with disabilities in transitioning to employment, will be featured.

Additionally, the Sno-King School Retirees will honor scholarship recipients during the meeting. The meeting is set for 6:30 p. m. on May 13 at the Educational Services Center, located at 20420 68th Ave. W.
