Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Meadowdale Mavericks overcame a dismal 3-12 start to qualify for the District 1 3A Baseball Tournament as the no. 12 seed. They won five straight games to finish the regular season and secured victories in their first two tournament contests. Unfortunately, their winning streak ended with a 6-3 loss to top-seeded Mount Vernon in the quarterfinals. Coach Darren Watkins praised his team's performance, emphasizing their ability to compete against a strong opponent.

Mount Vernon took an early lead, but Meadowdale responded with runs, showcasing their determination. The Mavericks scored once more in the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Bulldogs. Despite the defeat, Watkins expressed immense pride in his players for their resilience throughout the season. Meadowdale is set to play against the Shorewood Stormrays in another loser-out game on May 13.
