Candidates file for 2025 South Snohomish County elections

The candidate filing period for the 2025 elections in South Snohomish County has concluded, highlighting a range of competitive races across several cities. In Lynnwood, incumbent Mayor Christine Frizzell faces a rematch with George Hurst, who previously garnered 23% of the primary vote in 2021. The Lynnwood city council is set for a shakeup, with two councilmembers resigning and four positions contested. Edmonds City Councilmember Neil Tibbott will not seek re-election, leaving three candidates to compete for his seat. Meanwhile, Mountlake Terrace Mayor Kyoko Matsumoto Wright is running against Steven Mosman, as other council incumbents also face challenges.

The Primary Election is scheduled for August 5, followed by the General Election on November 4, with ballots mailed on July 17. Voter registration updates are due by July 28, according to the Snohomish County Elections website.
