Help Stamp Out Hunger Leave food by your mailbox May 10

Lynnwood, WALocal News

On May 10, residents are encouraged to leave non-perishable food beside their mailboxes for collection by local letter carriers as part of the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. This annual event, organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers, aims to alleviate food insecurity in communities across the country. Now in its 32nd year, it has become the largest one-day food drive in the nation, uniting postal workers and food banks to gather essential supplies for families in need. Participants can donate items like canned soup, pasta, and rice, and any bag can be used for the donation, though plastic bags were distributed prior to the event. Each contribution, no matter how small, plays a crucial role in stocking local food banks.

The drive will collect food during normal mail routes, ensuring that donations directly support local food banks. This initiative highlights the community's collective effort to combat hunger and support those in need. Last year, millions of pounds of food were collected nationwide, demonstrating the drive's significant impact.
