Art Beat Student theater and spring art bloom in Edmonds
Edmonds Heights K-12's musical theatre program presents "Hadestown – Teen Edition" from May 9-18, featuring the intertwined love stories of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone. This acclaimed folk opera has won eight Tony Awards and incorporates elements of American folk music and vintage jazz, reflecting the talent of over 200 students involved in the program. Concurrently, Edmonds College's Art Gallery showcases a "Student Art Show" from May 9 to June 20, highlighting the artwork of four emerging student artists. Faculty chair Audineh Asaf commends the students for their dedication to experimentation and creative risk-taking. The exhibition features a variety of artistic mediums, including painting, digital art, and installations.
A reception on May 9 will include live performances and artist demonstrations, enhancing community engagement. Both events underscore the importance of arts education in fostering creativity and self-expression among students. Edmonds Heights Performing Arts recently earned recognition at the State Thespians Competition, adding to the local arts scene's vibrancy.
